Visiting the Nissan Heritage Collection is free, but reservations are not easy to secure. Reservation slots open all at once on the 5th of each month at noon, and popular dates fill immediately. This article organizes information about the facility, how the reservation system works, and how to catch cancellation slots if you miss out on the simultaneous release. We also cover our free notification account, the faster Premium Plan, information for international visitors, and proxy booking.
What is the Nissan Heritage Collection?

The Nissan Heritage Collection is a storage facility operated by Nissan Motor at the Zama Business Center (former Zama Factory) in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture. It houses approximately 500 vehicles dating from the 1930s onward, including racing cars and concept cars. The tour allows visitors to see roughly 280 of these vehicles at any time. The lineup includes generations of the Skyline and Fairlady Z, as well as Le Mans racing vehicles.
Because it is an actual working storage facility rather than a museum, vehicles are rotated and loaned out regularly. This is why the lineup of cars changes depending on when you visit. Admission is free, and the tour takes approximately 90 minutes.
Basic reservation rules
- How to apply: Online reservation through the official website only. Reservations are required.
- Booking method: First come, first served. Once capacity is reached, that date and time closes. There is no waitlist system.
- Operating dates: Not every day, but around 10 days per month. Both weekdays and weekends/holidays are offered.
- Operating hours: Two sessions per day (10:00–11:30 and 14:00–15:30).
- Capacity: 25 people on weekdays, 30 people on weekends/holidays (per session).
- Calendar updates: Slots for the following month are released on the 5th of each month at noon (slots for May events are released on April 5th at noon).
With limited dates and capacity but high demand, competition is especially fierce for weekend and holiday slots.
There are two chances to get a reservation
There are two different times when you can book, and they work differently. Thinking about them separately makes it easier to plan your strategy.
First: Simultaneous release at noon on the 5th of each month
This is when slots for the following month are released all at once. The update time is publicly announced, so everyone has the same conditions. Simply open the reservation page at noon and apply—there’s no special trick.
Conversely, if you’re unable to get away from work at midday on weekdays or your schedule isn’t confirmed yet, it will be difficult to secure your preferred date at this point. Popular dates fill within minutes.
Second: Cancellation slots that appear afterward
Even after a date becomes fully booked, cancellations due to schedule changes can free up slots. Openings sometimes appear shortly before the event date.
However, cancellations are not announced. They can occur at any time, including late night or early morning. Once slots reappear, they fill again quickly, so whether you get one depends on whether you notice in that moment. Because the official site has no mechanism to alert you of openings, you have no choice but to check continuously yourself.
Notification service for cancellation slots
Since monitoring the site 24 hours a day isn’t practical, we operate a service that automatically monitors the availability status on the official reservation page and sends notifications when changes occur. There are two types of notifications: free and paid.
Free: X notification account
Nissan Heritage Collection Reservation Alerts by Good Loop (@GoodLoop_Nissan)
When we detect a change in availability, we post to X approximately 60 minutes later with messages like “Availability on ○/○” or “○/○ is now fully booked.” If you follow the account and enable notifications, you’ll receive alerts on your smartphone. No application is necessary.
- You can also become aware of openings that occur in the middle of the night or early morning.
- Since we also post when slots become fully booked, you won’t need to open the reservation page repeatedly to check availability.
However, returned slots typically fill within 30 minutes, and it’s common for the slot to already be fully booked again by the time we post to X. Think of the free notification as a way to reduce the number of times you miss an opening without even noticing.
Paid: Premium Plan (early email notifications)
For those serious about securing a slot, we offer the Premium Plan, which sends notifications by email before they are posted to X.
- Premium 60-Minute Advance (¥3,000 per month, tax included): You receive an email notification immediately upon detection.
- Premium 30-Minute Advance (¥1,000 per month, tax included): You receive an email notification approximately 30 minutes after detection, arriving about 30 minutes before X posts.
There is no automatic renewal—you purchase on a monthly basis as needed. You can use it only in the months you want to visit. For details about pricing, how to apply, and the terms of service, please see Premium Plan Information.
Even with the Premium Plan, because others receive the same notification and apply for the same slot, we cannot guarantee that you will successfully book.
Steps to secure a reservation
- Decide on multiple candidate dates: Since weekends and holidays have higher competition, including weekdays as options makes it easier to secure a spot.
- Apply at noon on the 5th: If you’re available at that time, opening the reservation page at that exact moment is the fastest approach.
- If you don’t get a slot, follow the notification account: Turn on notifications and wait for a cancellation slot to appear.
- Consider the Premium Plan for better odds: Receiving email notifications before X posts increases your chances of applying before the slot fills.
- Apply immediately when you receive a notification: Returned slots fill quickly.
- Keep checking right up until the event date: Cancellations can happen at the last minute too.
For international visitors
If you plan to include a visit as part of your trip to Japan, please note the following.
- Reservations can only be made for a maximum of approximately two months in advance. For example, if you are visiting in May, you can only book starting at noon on April 5th. You cannot secure a reservation before that.
- The reservation site supports English. You can apply from abroad on your own.
- The location is not in central Tokyo. It is in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, and takes more than an hour from Shinjuku Station. Please allow ample time before and after your visit.
- If your stay is short, waiting for a cancellation slot becomes less practical. You cannot count on a convenient opening appearing during your stay. Securing a slot at the noon release on the 5th is your best bet.
- Even from regions with a time difference, Premium Plan notification emails will reach you regardless of Japan time. You may be able to catch an opening that occurs in the middle of the night Japan time during your daytime.
For the latest information about languages available on the day of your visit and what to bring, please check the official site.
Proxy booking
Although the reservation site supports English, we accept proxy bookings for international travelers who cannot access the system at noon Japan time due to time zone differences or who are uncertain about the procedure in Japanese. If you’re interested, please consult us through the inquiry form.
Nearby: Aeon Mall Zama
The nearby Aeon Mall Zama is also worth a visit. This site is part of the Nissan Zama Plant and opened as a commercial facility in 2018. The Nissan Zama Information Center inside displays Nissan vehicles monthly, and vehicles may also be placed near the atrium on the third floor. You can visit before or after your tour.
